  • Loot Priority  |  Saturday, July 11, 2009 - 9:38 AM

This guide determines loot priorities in all raids which are guild only (see Current Instance Status).

About
EPGP PR via the EPGP Lootmaster addon will be used to determine who receives any item which drops. It's every members responsibility to promote fair loot distribution - just because an item didn't go to you this time doesn't mean you won't benefit from it, and there isn't an item in the game that is worth loosing friends or a good raiding group over. It's doubtful that all circumstances are covered by this guide, there will always be exceptions and occasionally some common sense will need to be applied by the RL and Officers (where possible after encountering one of those events this guide will be updated). When running 10 mans, the same principles are applied to loot except no GP is applied to the recieving player as no EP will be earned for the raid.

EPGP Lootmaster Buttons
Custom buttons will be used in the addon to capture each players preference. If you are a new member and are below MinEP still select the option relevant to you, the Loot Master will ensure the loot is allocated correctly and while full members off specs will have priority people often pass if they see it is a good upgrade for you. Each of the choices are described below and their priority is;
Main Spec > Main Spec Minor Upg > Off Spec > Off Spec Minor Upg > Off Off Spec

Main Spec

Players may select this option if;
  · It's an upgrade for their main specification
  · AND It’s their primary armor proficiency
The member needing the item that has the highest PR will be given the item and the full GP amount will be added to their total.

Main Spec Minor Upg
Players may select this option if;
  · It's an upgrade for their main specification
  · AND the item is the same iLevel as their existing item (this is a simple rule to avoid reduced GP being applied for any item by selecting minor upg to protect their PR, e.g. an un-contested tier token which would be used for main spec)
  · OR It’s a signifcant upgrade but it's not their primary armor proficiency
If no member has selected Main Spec then the member needing the item that has the highest PR will be given the item and a percentage of the full GP amount will be added to their total (see EPGP - Awards, Penalties & Constants for the current amount).

Off-Spec
Players may select this option if;
  · It's and upgrade for their off-spec
To be eligible to receive off-spec items you must have the dual talent specialisation and have your off spec detailed in the guild notes, and therefore approved by your CL and available for use in raids.
If no member has selected Main Spec or Main Spec Minor Upg then the member needing the item that has the highest PR will be given the item and a percentage of its GP will be added to their total (see EPGP - Awards, Penalties & Constants for the current amount). NOTE: Priority for off-spec items will be given to hybrid classes with different disciplinces over thoroughbreds (e.g. dps/hea > dps/dps) and to individuals who are asked to user their off-spec frequently.

Off-Spec Minor Upg
Players may select this option if;
  · It's an upgrade for their off specification
  · AND the item is the same iLevel as their existing item
  · OR It’s a signifcant upgrade for their off-spec but it's not their primary armor proficiency
If no member has selected Main Spec, Main Spec Minor Upg or Off-Spec then the member needing the item that has the highest PR will be given the item and a percentage of its GP will be added to their total (see EPGP - Awards, Penalties & Constants for the current amount).

Off-Off-Spec
In addition to an off-spec it's recognised that some classes (Druid's, Paladin's and Shaman's) may also have a third or even fourth (greedy druids) spec. When loot is not desired as Main spec or Off-Spec it will be offered to players as Off-Off-Spec (unless it is BoE) for the price of an Abyss Crystal (to be considered for this place a note on your request using EPGP Lootmaster before clicking pass).

Armor Proficiency
Items are offered to members that have the primary armor proficiency first - if there is nobody with the correct primary proficiency that wants the item then it is offered to others that can use the item with a relevant secondary proficiency. The only exception to this rule is if you are under MinEP (see below), in which case veteran members will beat you whether their primary armor proficiency matches or not (members will not make this choice lightly and will normally pass unless it's a real upgrade).

Class/Spec Priority & Item Stats
Unless an item specifically states that it's for a particular class only (e.g. the tier items from VoA bosses) then its use is open to discussion. However, expectations around this are well understood so you should think carefully before claiming class/spec priority and be ready to justify your position (for example cloth with hit will always be offered to dps classes first regardless of how much of an upgrade it might be to a holy priest - quit dodging my heals tank!).

MinEP (trials)
A minimum EP is required before you may win any 'contested' drop (items that have more than one player requesting it). As previously mentioned, you should still let the ML know your preference, since you may still receive it if all others pass - which is common.

BoE Items
BoE items will be given to the RL for the GB (and sold - normally after one week) unless they are BiS. Speak to an Officer outside of the raid if you believe this to be the case and an opportunity to take the item for its full GP will be given to all members that can make use of it (you will be asked to equip it there and then so it cannot be sold).

Mats Farmed in Raids
All mats farmed during a raid (e.g. herbs from Freya trash, gems from Hodir trash or engineering mats from Mim trash) should be deposited in the guild bank. Items which are to enable a new loot to be used in the raid (e.g. enchants and gems) are free to use by members with the Raider rank or above while consumables (e.g. flasks and pots) will be made available to purchase at roughly half market price for all members of the guild (Trials will need to speak to an officer to purchase these items while all others are trusted to deposit the correct ammount in the GB after taking the items).

Other Items NOT Governed by PR

  · Recipes (BoE Crafting) - given to the RL for the guild bank (then either stored in the GB if the recipe is not known in the guild until such time someone requires the item making, or sold on the AH if it's a duplicate)
  ·
Uncommon Items - given to the RL for the guild bank (then DE'd for enchant mats)
  · Runed Orbs - given to RL for the guild bank (where members over MinEP can then request them for GP cost using this thread)
  · Keys - given to raid leaders first and then in order of highest EP to make sure someone can always open instances
  · The Legendary Ulduar Weapon
(
Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings) - to the member with highest EP, in order, until each has all 40 fragments (Fragment of Val'anyr) - our most senior members who have invested the most time should earn this item

Non Guild Members
If the raid contains one or more non guild members then all players wanting the item should roll. If a non-guild member wins the roll they take the item, if ANY guild member wins the roll then the distribution system described above will then be used.

Not Taking Loot
Loot distribution systems work best when players don't try and circumvent them - you will not be forced to take items but if you are not taking upgrades your raid attendance will be lowered (you'll start getting less invites and your standby priveleges will be revoked). EPGP is specifically designed so EP/GP used earlier is worth more (via the decay mechanism) but this can never be completely robust (e.g. fighting for PR between two members with the same EP/GP within one raid week before decay has been applied). Nearly all upgrades at our level are minor - if you consistently refuse to take items you will be lowering your own performance and that's just not how we work.
